All prints are handmade, one of a kind, unique silver prints that are made into small editions and printed on 100% acid free, cotton rag paper with 100 year archival inks.
***One complete set (11X14") prints exists that were printed using the Carbon Pigment Printing process invented by Louis Ducon du Hauron . These are basically oil and carbon 500 year prints. This set is still available.
Diatoms are the jewels of nature. They are a very strange and wonderful silicon based life form and are everywhere around us in the soil and water. (The Cliffs of Dover are made from them). The Diatom Series were all photographed on a microscope in my studio. I received much assistance from a man by the name of Klaus Kemp who lives in England and mounted all the specimens ( from his own collection) onto slides for me at my direction (in a manner of forms from the Victorian era). Mounting microscopic life forms is an art all to itself and Klaus is one of the best.
